Centre for Interdisciplinary Regional Studies (ZIRS)
The Masterclass will focus diverse modes of collaborative ethnographic research on contemporary phenomena that characterize what has been termed “late industrialism” (Fortun 2012) or “Quotidian Anthropocene” (Elinoff and Vaughan 2020, see also Fortun et al. 2021). We invite advanced Master students, PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers to contribute insights from their research that include collaborative moments – both, intentionally built-in or emerging from specific field encounters and research interactions – during the project’s preparation and conceptualization, inquiry, analysis or/and dissemination and to reflect upon the relationship of anthropological knowledge production and its role within the respective field. The Masterclass aims at comparing and discussing various forms of and experiences with collaboration and creating a platform for ongoing exchange and further development of such research modes. More specifically, the Masterclass provides an opportunity for researchers from Halle to explore possible linkages to knowledge productions practices like the field campuses and global networks of knowledge exchange like the STS Disaster Network led by Kim Fortun.
The Masterclass is open to a maximum of 10 participants. To apply, please submit a short motivation statement (1 page max.) including information on your research project with a special focus on its collaborative aspects by 7th June 2023 23:59 to Janine Hauer (janine.hauer@zirs.uni-halle.de).
We are looking forward to your application.
