With the advent of digital innovations (like participative services, mobile applications, transmedia and the internet of things…), we have to consider interactions between actors (human and nonhuman), data and content producers, and their meanings. In the context of the encounter between a centralized network (museums) and a decentralized network (internet), these interactions generate organizational and cultural innovations which can be identified by analyzing the professional uses of digital technologies and new uses of museum mediation embedded in digital practices of public museums. Recently, we have noticed ambitious professional commitments and endogenous and exogenous movements of content from museums and public. Technical, professional, social and innovation’s issues of digital museum mediations will be presented: The methodologies employed (in the humanities and social sciences) to analyze uses; uses (public), their meanings based on sociability and emotions, and their ambivalence; professional digital uses; relations between public and museums. This point invites us to think differently about prescriptions and museum diffusion.
